Hi, I'm Adri. I am a Psychotherapist, Accredited Mental Health Social
Worker and University Lecturer

Everyday I get to witness the human spirit in all its vulnerability and power. It's a humbling experience to sit with individuals who lean into self-exploration. Opening up our stories is no easy task, and yet it is so powerful in helping us to understand how origin wounds and lived experience impact our present. Transformation and growth happens when we feel seen, heard and respectfully challenged.
Bachelor of Social Work & Social Policy (Honors 1)
Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy
With 25 years' experience working across community, health settings and private practice, I've specialised in trauma recovery, mental health and forensic assessment and treatment. I've held clinical leadership positions and provide Clinical Supervision. At Mater Health - Clarence Street I led an allied health team supporting young people with problem substance use and mental health concerns. At Paeds in a Pod, Woolloongabba I supported kids and teens with neurodevelopmental conditions and their parents. I have been a nerdy pracademic since 2006, and teach postgrads in the Faculty of Psychology and Wellbeing at USQ.
Child Safety and Youth Justice bring me in to consult on complex matters. When working with young people with problem sexual behaviours and those harmed by sexual violence, I adopt a relational, attachment focused approach informed by best practice principles outlined by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. I believe in survivor-centred Restorative Justice practices. I work alongside Restorative Justice Conferencing teams and Police across Southeast Qld, participating in healing talking-circles.
My integrative approach allows me to tailor counselling to your needs and circumstances. I am trained in Neuroscience, EMDR Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Trauma Recovery, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Art Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I am bilingual and fluent in Spanish. As a bi-cultural person I practice cultural humility and welcome the opportunity to learn from clients and to understand their worldview. I love spending time with our blended tribe (with 5 young adults), family and friends. I love reading, plants, travel and gratitude practice keeps me grounded.
