Hi, I'm Adri. I am a Psychotherapist, Accredited Mental Health Social
Worker and University Lecturer

Everyday I get to witness the human spirit in all its vulnerability and power. It's a humbling experience to sit with individuals who lean into self-exploration. Opening up our stories is no easy task, and yet it is so powerful in helping us to understand how origin wounds and lived experience impact our present. Transformation and growth happens when we feel seen, heard and respectfully challenged. I hope to come alongside to support you.
Bachelor of Social Work & Social Policy (Honors 1)
Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy
I have 25 years experience working across community, health settings and private practice specialising in trauma recovery, mental health and forensic assessment and treatment. I've held clinical and leadership positions which has expanded my practice and I enjoy providing Clinical Supervision. I worked at Mater Health, Clarence Street leading an allied health, multi-disciplinary team supporting young people with problem substance use and mental health concerns; and supported children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families at Paeds in a Pod, Woolloongabba. I have been a nerdy prac-ademic since 2006, and currently teach postgrads at the University of Southern Qld in the Faculty of Psychology and Wellbeing.
I consult on complex cases for Child Safety and Youth Justice and complete forensic assessment and treatment of problem sexual behaviours, including working with children and adolescents with harmful sexual behaviours and pornography dependence. I adopt a multimodal approach (motivational interviewing, CBT, ACT, DBT, behaviouralism and forensic frameworks) that is informed by best practice principles outlined by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. I am passionate about survivor-centred, Restorative Justice practices and work alongside Restorative Justice Conferencing teams and Police across Brisbane. I participate in healing talking-circles that allow persons harmed to have a voice; and for those who have caused harm to be held accountable, take full responsibility, demonstrate understanding and empathy and to make amends.
I have an integrative approach that allows me to tailor the counselling to your individual needs and circumstances. I am a life-long learner and am trained in Neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Trauma Recovery, EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Art Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I am bilingual and fluent in Spanish. As a bi-cultural person I practice cultural humility and welcome the opportunity to learn from clients and to understand their worldview. During my down time I love spending time with our blended tribe (with 5 young adults) and with family and friends. I'm an avid reader, enjoy nature and gratitude practice keeps me grounded.
